„Am Berg“ is part of the larger series „Minimal Landscapes“. I use physically modelled threads as an analogy to brushstrokes in 3D space. The threads are laid into virtual landscapes, sink into valleys, spread out and trace their shape. Since the landscape is a classic subject in painting, I use equally classic Perlin noise algorithms to create these landscapes. This is a nod to the early days of computer graphics, the ideas of which are still with me today. I choose a region and a perspective and paint the result in collaboration with my machines.
